NTFC get ready for a season in LSL Senior 1 with new signings   10/08/2016

After a brief time in the third tier of LSL football Newbridge Town are making changes ahead of their return to the LSL Senior 1. They have added none other than Thomas Morgan to their coaching team, which is spear headed by Paul Perth who has been ably assisted by Gary Murphy and Tommy Magee. And on top of that we have now confirmed some good signings.

Tayem ‘Tayo’ Mercer, who was part of the Bluebell United squad that won the league title two seasons ago and manned the midfield for Firhouse Clover as they came to within a point of claiming the Senior Sunday crown last term arrives at Station Road along with his brother Harmony Mercer who also signs for Perth from Firhouse Clover.  Kenneth Deegan and Baba Isaka come in from Sacred Heart while Michael McDonnel and Michael McLoughlan sign from Chapilzod. There may be one or two more signings before the season kicks off on the weekend of the 26th August.

Last season was a great start to Paul Perth's time as manager as the club reached the semi-finals of the Metropolitan Cup only to be knocked out by one of the worst refereeing decisions that have been seen on a football pitch.

They also made it to their first final in almost 20 years when they faced St John Bosco in the Moore Cup final only to go down in an agonising penalty shootout.

All of that was more than made up for as Newbridge claimed the Senior 1A title and immediate promotion back to Senior 1.
